Ruddington’s Country Park Does it Again!

Rushcliffe Country Park has just received its 15th consecutive Green Flag Award – an acknowledgment that Ruddington’s much loved green space remains one of the very best parks in the UK.

It’s one of 2,127 parks and green spaces around the country that have received the award – as the scheme celebrates 25 years as the international quality mark for parks. It’s a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

Cllr Abby Brennan

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change, Cllr Abby Brennan, joined the Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park volunteer group and Council representatives (top photo) to raise the latest 2021/22 flag.

Cllr Brennan says: “It is brilliant the Country Park has again received the Green Flag Award for another year, highlighting the hard work and commitment of our staff and great volunteers, year in, year out. The importance of green spaces came into focus even more during COVID-19 lockdowns and parks such as this allow thousands to visit and enjoy the fresh air and wonderful engaging walks, wildlife and features for children and adults alike.”

She adds: “This is also a celebration of the great work the volunteers carry out so we would like to thank them again in their help to receive this prestigious accreditation.”

Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park member, Dorothy Pearson, says: “We’re really pleased to be able to raise the Green Flag at the park for a wonderful, fifteenth year. More work took place this year to make up for time lost in 2020 and it’s heartening the group’s efforts don’t go unnoticed. Seeing the flag fly high and proud makes it all worth it.”
